What Is LPUNEST?
LPUNEST stands for Lovely Professional University National Entrance and Scholarship Test.
It is conducted by Lovely Professional University for admission and/or scholarship purposes across various programmes.
For example, LPU currently lists LPUNEST for programmes including B.Tech and a wide range of undergraduate programmes. The university describes LPUNEST as an entrance as well as scholarship test for applicable programmes
For B.Tech, LPU states that admission is based on merit in LPUNEST, subject to fulfilment of the applicable eligibility criteria. LPU
How Many Times Can You Give LPUNEST?
The simple answer: First Attempt + Second Chance
For the applicable LPUNEST process, LPU provides an initial attempt and a Second Chance.
In LPU’s published prospectus, the university states that an applicant who does not qualify in the first attempt may apply for a second attempt after receiving the first result, subject to payment of the prescribed processing fee. The published 2025 prospectus specified a ₹200 processing fee for the second attempt.LPUNEST 2027,
However, the rules are not necessarily identical for every programme or admission cycle.
Therefore, you should think of it as:
Attempt 1 → Result → Second Chance, if eligible
rather than assuming that LPUNEST can be taken unlimited times.
Can You Give LPUNEST Twice?
Yes.
A candidate can get a second opportunity under LPU’s Second Chance provision.
There are two important situations.
Situation 1: You did not qualify
If you appeared for LPUNEST but did not qualify, LPU provides a Second Chance option subject to its conditions.
This gives you an opportunity to prepare again and appear for the test.
Situation 2: You qualified but want a better scholarship
This is particularly important.
According to LPU’s current information, candidates who have already qualified may also be offered the opportunity to reappear in LPUNEST to try for a higher scholarship.
So, qualifying in your first attempt does not necessarily mean that there is no reason to take the second opportunity.
If your main objective is to maximize your scholarship, improving your LPUNEST performance can be valuable.
Is the Second Attempt Automatically Available?
No.
You generally need to apply for the Second Chance through the LPU admission process.
LPU currently states that a request for LPUNEST Second Chance may be considered after submitting an application through the university admission portal along with the applicable ₹200 processing fee. LPU
The exact fee and process should be checked for the relevant admission year because LPU can revise its admission rules.
When Can You Apply for the Second Attempt?
The second attempt is generally linked to your first attempt result.
LPU’s published prospectus states that applicants may apply for the second attempt only after receiving the result of their first attempt.
So the process is not normally:
Book two attempts at the same time.
Instead, it follows the sequence:
1. Apply for LPUNEST
↓
2. Book your first exam slot
↓
3. Appear for LPUNEST
↓
4. Receive your result
↓
5. Decide whether you need the Second Chance
↓
6. Apply for the Second Chance, if eligible
↓
7. Appear again
↓
8. Use the applicable result for admission/scholarship according to LPU’s rules
Does the Second Attempt Help in Getting a Better Scholarship?
Yes, it can.
This is one of the biggest reasons students should understand the Second Chance option.
LPUNEST is not only used as an entrance test for applicable programmes; it can also be used as a scholarship test.
LPU’s current B.Tech information says that LPUNEST scores can determine the amount of scholarship a student receives.
Therefore, a student who wants a higher scholarship may consider using the second opportunity to improve their score.
Example
Suppose a student gets a relatively low score in Attempt 1.
They qualify for admission but are not satisfied with the scholarship.
They can prepare again and, if eligible for the Second Chance, attempt LPUNEST again.
If their performance improves, they may become eligible for a higher scholarship according to the applicable scholarship rules.
Always check the current scholarship policy before assuming that a particular score guarantees a particular percentage of scholarship.
What If I Miss My First LPUNEST Attempt?
If you miss or do not qualify in your previous attempt, LPU’s current information says that the Second Chance may be available to allow you to appear again and become eligible for scholarships, subject to the applicable conditions.
This means missing the first opportunity does not necessarily mean that your admission journey is over.
However, you should act quickly because LPUNEST is conducted according to scheduled admission cycles and available slots. LPUNEST 2027
What If I Already Qualified in LPUNEST?
This is another common question.
You may still be able to reappear.
LPU specifically states that applicants who have already appeared and qualified can be offered the opportunity to reappear to try to obtain a higher scholarship.
Therefore:
Qualified ≠ necessarily your final opportunity to improve your LPUNEST score.
If scholarship is important to you, the Second Chance can be worth considering. LPUNEST 2027
Which LPUNEST Attempt Is Better?
The answer depends on your performance.
Consider this example:
Attempt 1
Score: 180/400
The student qualifies but wants a better scholarship. LPUNEST 2027
Attempt 2
Score: 280/400
The second performance is substantially better.
If LPU’s applicable scholarship rules recognize the improved result, the second attempt could potentially provide a better scholarship outcome.
However, don’t assume that the second attempt will automatically replace the first result in every circumstance. Check the scholarship and admission rules applicable to your programme and admission cycle. LPUNEST 2027
Should You Take the Second Attempt?
The Second Chance can be particularly useful if:
- Your first score was lower than expected
- You made many avoidable mistakes
- You were not fully prepared
- You want to improve your scholarship
- You had difficulty managing time
- You want another opportunity to demonstrate your preparation
- You missed the first opportunity and are eligible for the Second Chance
But don’t take the second attempt casually.
Use the time between attempts to identify your weak areas. LPUNEST 2027
How to Improve Your LPUNEST Score Before the Second Attempt
If you are planning to take the Second Chance, don’t simply repeat the same preparation strategy.
1. Analyse Your First Attempt
Write down:
- Questions you couldn’t solve
- Questions you guessed
- Topics where you made mistakes
- Time-consuming sections
- Calculation mistakes
- Questions you misunderstood
Your first attempt should become your diagnostic test. LPUNEST 2027
2. Focus on Weak Chapters
Suppose your first attempt shows that you are weak in:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
Don’t spend all your preparation time revising chapters you already know.
Instead, divide your preparation into:
Weak topics → Moderate topics → Strong topics
Spend the largest amount of time on weak topics. LPUNEST 2027
3. Practise Mock Tests
Mock tests are extremely important.
Try to replicate the actual examination environment.
For every mock test, analyse:
Score + Accuracy + Time + Mistakes
Don’t only look at the final score.
For example: LPUNEST 2027
| Area | Result |
|---|---|
| Questions attempted | 80 |
| Correct | 65 |
| Incorrect | 15 |
| Accuracy | 81.25% |
| Time management | Needs improvement |
This analysis tells you much more than your total marks alone. LPUNEST 2027
LPUNEST Score vs Scholarship
LPUNEST can play an important role in scholarship consideration for applicable programmes.
For example, LPU’s current B.Tech admission information publishes tentative scholarship cut-offs based on previous applicant performance and notes that these cut-offs can vary. The page currently lists indicative categories including:
- Category A — 300/400
- Category B — 212/400
- Category C — 150/400
These are tentative and should not be treated as guaranteed 2027 scholarship thresholds.
This is why students should focus on getting the highest score they can rather than preparing only to cross the minimum qualifying level. LPUNEST 2027
Is LPUNEST Conducted Only Once a Year?
Not necessarily in one single sitting.
LPU currently describes LPUNEST as being conducted in multiple schedules, with candidates selecting available examination slots. Its B.Tech admission page says scores are provided after the end of each schedule and a final result/rank is released.
This is different from saying that a candidate can take unlimited attempts.
The availability of schedules and the Second Chance provision are separate matters.
Can I Change My LPUNEST Exam Date?
LPU also has a Test Alteration provision.
Its current information states that a request to change the test date or centre may be considered through the admission portal, subject to conditions and the applicable processing fee. The current page mentions a ₹450 processing fee and says a test-alteration request may be submitted three days before the test date. LPUNEST 2027
This should not be confused with the Second Chance.
Test Alteration
Means changing the test arrangement/date under the applicable rules.
Second Chance
Means getting another opportunity to appear in LPUNEST.
Is There Any Limit on LPUNEST Attempts?
Students should not assume unlimited attempts.
The published LPU rules specifically describe a second attempt/Second Chance rather than unlimited reattempts.
Also, LPU may revise the rules for different admission cycles and programmes.
Therefore, for LPUNEST 2027, the safest approach is to check the latest official admission instructions for your programme before paying for or booking another attempt. LPUNEST 2027
